Apples are among the foods we associate most with the autumn months. Pick up some fresh apple cider and follow this simple recipe for a warm, autumnal treat.

Serving size: 1 cup
2 quarts fresh apple cider
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 bay leaf
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Zest from one orange (or 2 teaspoons dried orange peel)
Combine cider, brown sugar, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, and orange peel in a large pan. Bring to a boil and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Strain to remove spices and serve.
